March 8, 2013, was a very sad day for not only family and friends but for the United Sates Marine Corps.
The local obituary reads “Another Marine was called home by our Lord to guard Heavens Gates. Mark Anthony Marshall was born in Madison, W. Va. on Jan. 30, 1960 to Lonnie Marshall and Constance G. Hope. Mark was a proud Marine and a loving father and grandfather. Mark loved to laugh, help other people, and loved sharing good spirits with his friends. Above all, what mark loved the most was spending time with his grandson, Andrew.
Mark is survived by his daughters Alicia A. (Christopher J.) Krug of Ft. Lewis, Wa., and Ashley Y. (Nicolas Seifert) Maxwell of Benson, Ariz.; his grandchildren, Isaac Seifert, Andrew Arnold, Carter Krug, Aleya Seifert, Rylee Seifert, and Raelynn Seifert; his sisters, Rebbeca (Gene) White of Holly Grove, W. Va., Nina Randall of Neffs, Ohio, Ruth Shamblin of Chelyan, W. Va., and Myra (Brian) Barbour of Marmet, W. Va.; and one other brother, David Marshall of Chesapeake, W. Va.; one special ‘niece,’ Shelby Maxwell, a special ‘nephew,’ Bradley Maxwell II, and many more nieces and nephews, who all loved him dearly.” Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Connie Marshall, his sister Diane Haugen, his brothers, Lonnie, Verlin, Frank, and Daniel Marshall.
Mark’s visitation was on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 6 p.m. at Richardson’s Remembrance Center (Benson).
Boot Hill Hearse was truly honored to attend and provide the last ride at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church (Benson) on Friday, March 15, 2013 . The interment followed at Southern Arizona Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
A very special Thank You to the Patriot Guard Riders who did a great job escorting the funeral procession from the church to the cemetery.
